Sodi Cookey at The Camden Club

One of Port Harcourt's most powerful and original vocalists, Sodi Cookey, returns with his band at The Camden Club.

With his Port Harcourt-forged soul & jazz and incredible stage presence and vocals, Sodi Cookey is the most complete performer to come out of Nigeria.

Sodi's powerful and lyrical voice infuses soul, jazz and blues harmonies into contemporary rhythms. His diverse audiences are spellbound by his incredible range and charismatic performances. As a natural counter-tenor, he combines a unique blend of velvet vocals, rich-raw melodies and provocative story-telling.

Much of his childhood growing up in the creative melting pot of Nigeria and influenced by his musical parents, Sodi was a prodigy - composing and performing from age six. In his twenties, he returned to London and began collaborating with renowned musicians and producers including Grammy award-winning, Sonny Johns and David Mrakpor. Sodi has also performed at London’s annual Jazz Festival and headlined at Vienna’s prestigious ORF RadioKulture Haus.

Sodi’s album, A&G – Love, Life & Protest, pulls inspiration from his history and experiences - evoking passion, optimism and determination. It is an eclectic mix of sounds, rhythms and unique sequencing – all drawn from his various musical influences and Nigerian heritage.

Doors open at 7pm. Tickets £14 (+booking fee) in advance; £17 on the door.
