Sodi Cookey New Release: Love Put A Hit On Me
Sodi Cookey presents the ultimate #songofthesummer: 'Love Put A Hit On Me'. This up-tempo masterpiece delves into the journey of discovering profound love while navigating the aftermath of past relationships. Enhanced by its contagious guitar rhythms, ethereal backing harmonies, and an unforgettably anthemic chorus, the song showcases the extraordinary vocal prowess of one of this decade's premier male vocalists.
REVIEW: Sodi Cookey at The Camden Club - 23 June 23
Even a painful, pulled Achilles tendon didn't stop singer/songwriter Sodi Cookey from putting on a wonderfully intimate performance. Seated for the entirety of his Camden Club showcase meant that Cookey had to work an up-tempo set while not moving too much. Used to bouncing around the stage, engaging with his band and audience, being fixed-to-the-spot didn't mean he wasn't spinning around on his stool, directing his band: the emotive bassist Michael Searle, talented pianist, Mark Rainbow and extraordinary drummer Nehemiah Ibe.
The Sodi Cookey Live Experience
While onstage I allow myself to go where the song wants to take me. Often, it is my band that takes a groove somewhere else and I follow, other times it will be me exploring a melody and my band following me. But in the end we always come back to the song!

REVIEW: Chasing away the January-blues
Back onstage with his full band after a three-year hiatus, Sodi Cookey’s inaugural show at The Camden Club was a barn-storming success.
The packed venue was treated to two hours of incredible African-jazz-infused music - ranging from standards, like a rendition of Sarah Vaughn’s Misty, to Nigerian hi-life to down-and-dirty funk.
Raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Cookey continued to show why the continent is a melting pot of musical talent able to compete on the international stage in any musical medium.
