Cookey is above all a storyteller. His original songs and lyrics stir up emotions and buried memories. His incredible range, powerful voice and passionate performances delight and surprise audiences. A British born Nigerian he grew up in the musical melting pot of Port Harcourt, immersed in the traditional music of his riverine roots. The son of a classical musician, singing and composing has always been part of his life. A self-confessed music junkie with diverse and eclectic influences he has developed his own sound, a unique fusion of soul, funk, jazz and highlife.  Cookey has performed extensively in Nigeria and more recently in Europe.
